Americans Are Using More Debit Cards Than Credit Cards

For the first half of this year, debit cards accounted for 26 percent of in-store transactions, compared with 21 percent for credit cards, according to a recent consumer survey conducted by the American Bankers Association and research firm Dove Consulting. That marks the first time credit-card use has fallen behind debit cards.
